The start of another NFL season means it's the return of the NFL picks of WYTZ-FM's Insane Blane, aka Blane Hillman, aka Wolverlion in the comments here at TWFE.

Blane appears on the Hillbilly Huddle every Friday and Monday in the 7 to 8 AM hour on the blowtorch of SW MI, 97.5 Y-Country radio, WYTZ-FM. Your hosts are football expert "Insane" Blane Hillman, and 97.5 Y country morning man Wild Bill Lewis.

Every week, I post Blane's WYTZ picks for all to see. I can't help but make my own predictions, or at least make smart ass remarks about Blane's selections and the games themselves.

Blane's picks are bold, while my snarky ass commentary is in italics.

Thursday night:

Minny at NOLA-------I picked the Saints on the air yesterday morning. Suuure you did! All there really is to say about the Vikes is Brett Favre looked like every one of his 40 years. The former 'Aints are going to be a handful this season. The Saints may truly be America's Team.

Sunday afternoon:

Carolina @ NY Giants-------Giants BIG...I do not like the team the Panthers have put together at all. The team the Panthers put together has Mike Moore at quarterback, 'nuff said. He's the reason the Panthers snapped up Jimmy Clausen when he slipped into the 2nd round of the draft. I'm no Eli Manning fan...but I have to admit he's much better than Moore.

Atlanta @ Pitt------I am taking Matt Ryan and the Dirty Birds to win a big road game early.
Don't expect surprise Steelrrs starter Dennis Dixon (When the other choice is Charlie Batch, is it really a surprise Dixon got the nod?) to run wild...as good as he looked against Detroit, Dixon won't be facing the Lions' 2nd string defense this time around. The shit, as they say, is about to get real. Take the Birds.

Cleveland @ Tampa------Week 1 is too early for a game this ugly---take the Bucs. Ugly indeed. Where's my lucky flipping coin? Screw it, just take the home team...but I sure as Hell wouldn't bet on 'em. After all, the Browns do have The Mangenius on the sidelines! HA! I slay me...

Denver @ Jax----I am taking the Jags just because I already have too many road winners picked----how's that for logic? It's as good as reason as any, Blane. The Jaguars aren't world-beaters by any means, but it's damn hard to win on the road in the NFL. Thinking back to how average the Broncos looked against the Lions a few weeks ago, this team isn't going to win much away from Mile High.

Indy @ Houston-----Taking Indy in what could be a great game. I have Matt Schwab on my only fantasy team, and I need a big statistical game from the Texans' quarterback. So an exciting, high scoring game works for me! Doesn't mean I think the Texans can beat the Colts, though.

Miami @ Buffalo------Chad Henne leads the Fins to a road win. Henne will have a good game, and the Bills aren't a very good team at home or on the road. In fact, I think the Bills are the team that help end the Lions' road woes later this season. So yes, I'm saying take the Dolphins.

Oakland @ Tenn-----Titans in a big way. Raiders blow in a big way.

Cincy @ New England----Crash Brady will do just enough to beat a very good Bengals team. Any team with both Chad OchoCinco and Terelle Owens on the roster is always one game away from a massive, and great fun to watch, implosion. There's only one ball on the field at a time, and with OchoCinco and Owens, the Bengals need at least two. Thus, Tom Terriffic celebrates his brand spanking new contract with a victory.

Arizona @ St Louis-----Take the Cards on the road. I have to believe the Cards will struggle to make the playoffs. It's a loooong drop in quarterback quality from Kurt Warner to Derek Anderson...who was run out of Cleveland, fans with pitchforks and torches not far behind. Even though they're now seriously lacking at quarterback, the Cardinals are still good enough to beat the Lambs. Not even ESPN's John Clayton's lock to become an elite quarterback, Sam Bradford, can save St. Louie.

S.F. @ Seattle------I am liking the Niners in this situation. How long have the Niners been waiting for Alex Smith to prove himself? It feels like a decade...but it is year five of the Smith era. It's finally a make it or break it season with Smith. Not that the 'Hawks are any great shakes at quarterback either, Matt Hasselbeck hasn't been good since 2007. Neither team gets me all a-tingle in my nether regions, so take the Seahawks at home.

Green Bay @ Philly-----Good game, take the Pack.
May be the most entertaining game of the day. Aaron Rodgers is making the Cheeseheads forget all about that guy with the dyslexically spelled name, while Kevin Kolb's debut as the number one in Philly doesn't go as planned. Take the Packers in a fairly high scoring affair.

Sunday night:

Dallas @ Washington------I am picking the Pokes. Agreed, even if Jerry Jones' puppe...uh...I mean, Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips is a bonehead. Redskins remain a mess, from their insane owner on down. I realize I'm picking quite a few road teams to win...but most of the home teams in week one leave plenty to be desired. Just one of those weird NFL weekends.

Monday night:

Baltimore @ NY Jets----Taking the Jets at home on Monday night. Tough game to pick, as Joe Flacco is a good young quarterback, and Matt Sanchez...isn't. But with the Jets becoming an NFL fan favorite thanks to Rex Ryan's star making turn on Hard Knocks, and showing the nation his mastery of profanity, I fucking have to fucking take the fucking Ravens over the fucking Jets you fucks. Now go have a fucking snack!

San Diego @ K.C.-----The Chargers will blow the Chiefs out later Sunday night. Phillip Rivers has a field day against the weak sauce that is the Chiefs.

And finally, the pick you've all been waiting to see...

Detroit @ Chicago-----OK, I think this is a winnable game for the Lions, but after 20 straight road losses, winnable does not mean "should win" I just do not have the stones to pick the Lions----Bears in a close game. I've already said the Lions are too shorthanded on defense to win. So I'm not going to change now...though I hope I'm wrong.
