Updated: Head to the bottom of this post for the latest, but here's whom the Turk has asked for their playbooks to this point.
Cut: OT Jon Jansen, LB Caleb Campbell, WR Tim Toone, S Ko Simpson, LB Vinny Ciurciu, RB DeDe Dorsey, WR Brian Clark.
No, I'm not talking about this Turk...

Though I'm sure Donald Faison is a busy man. I'm talking about the coach who delivers the news to football players on the roster bubble that they have been cut.
There are eight words a professional football player never wants to hear:
"Coach wants to see you. Bring your playbook".
Unfortunately, on the Saturday after the final exhibition game, those words are being heard all over the NFL...including Detroit.
The Lions need to thin their roster down from 75 to 53 players by 6PM tonight. After that, they can add eight players on to the practice squad...and not necessarily players who have spent camp with the Lions.
But being on the regular season roster after 6PM tonight is no guarantee they'll be with the Lions Sunday afternoon in Chicago. The 53 man will be in flux for the next couple of days as teams sign newly released players. There's bound to be a few free agents on the market who would be a good fit on the Lions.
The upheaval started with the Lions announcing the release of tackle Jason Baston Friday night.
Today, we've learned a few players have already heard their fate , though some are better off than others.
Rookie linebacker Caleb Campbell tweeted this morning he had been cut, but he's still going to play football.
Put on practice squad today, not satisfied but its another step to me playing on Sundays. DREAM IS STILL ALIVE!! Can't stop won't stop
Don't forget, the former West Point cadet still has to pass through waivers. But Campbell is one Hell of a story, I'm glad it's not over for him.
Veteran tackle Jon Jansen also got the word, and tweeted his fate to the world at large.
I was just told by the Lions I'm being cut today. Needless to say I'm disappointed. I enjoyed playing for my home team and the city of Det.
I'm disappointed as well...because it means Gosder Cherilus is the Lions' starting right tackle.
Mr. Irrelevant, rookie wide out Tim Toone, is also headed to the practice squad. He released the news via his (protected) Facebook page.
According to Adam Schefter's Twitter feed, also meeting the Turk today was safety Ko "I'm worth MILLIONS" Simpson. That should mean Can't Cover Brown is going to be the starter next to Louis Delmas.
The fate of the other names who will be meeting the Turk today have yet to be released.

It's not this Turk, either!
I'll continue to update this post as word leaks out as to the Lions' cuts.
Update 1:30PM: Another Twitter update, as Brad Galli of WXYZ-TV retweets a surprising cut.
More #Lions cut news: Vinny Ciurciu out. RT @LarkenEgleston former Panther Ciurciu cut by #Lions.
Freep beat guy Dave Birkett retweeted Galli's tweet, so there's (sort of) conformation (Chris McCosky confirmed the cut on Twitter). Seems the Lions like the Ginger Kid, Rocky Boiman, more than Ciurciu. More importantly, this could mean Deandre Levy will be able to play Sunday.
At the News, Chris McCosky reports the Lions have cut WR Brian Clark and RB DeDe Dorsey...ending the logjam in the backfield, and pretty much assuring Kevin Smith has made the squad.
More as I hear it...
