UPDATED 7 pm: If you'd like to read all the sordid details of the arrest, here's a direct link to the PDF of the police report at the Freep.

The Detroit Free Press has obtained the police reports in the Tom Lewand drunk driving case, and the results aren't pretty.

The report says Lewand performed a couple field sobriety tests, but did not walk heel to toe as requested and could not balance on one leg. He also touched his upper lip when asked to put his finger to his nose.

After initially refusing to take a breath test for blood alcohol level, Lewand later took the test, registering a .21 and a .20.

The legal limit in Michigan is .08. Lewand was hammered.

It's also interesting to note the Lions' president told the Roscommon County Sheriff's deputies he was the designated driver and hadn't had a drink in a year and a half.

Lewand fell off the wagon, and fell off hard.

There's still been no word from the Lions or the NFL as to any disciplinary action.

I'm not a proponent of anyone losing their job for a mistake, and I do think Lewand will remain with the Lions as president (which Killer Kowwalski confirms at Mlive). But you have to believe there will be some sort of action taken, considering NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has dropped the disciplinary hammer of doom in cases where no charges have been filed.

According to the Detroit News, when asked about the case, Goodell said he will speak with Lewand.

"Our policies apply to everyone: Yours truly, club presidents, players, coaches, everybody involved with the NFL," Goodell said in an interview with the NFL Network. "And I think Tom recognizes that and of course I will speak to him at some point in the near future. And we'll be gathering the facts. But everybody is accountable and everybody is responsible."

So what will be the likely result?

I'd expect a fine and short suspension from the NFL, with Lewand entering some sort of rehab program.  That's fine by me.

Lewand's duties with the team includes being their chief negotiator. Let's hope none of this affects the Lions' contract talks with their unsigned draft picks.
