It's been a couple of weeks since my latest surgery at U of M, and there's good news! I've finally been given the OK by my surgeons to go back to living a normal lifestyle.

In other words, the back surgery was a rousing success!

After removing the cross-members and the fluid filled bursa sacs they caused, the new pain I had been dealing with is gone. Some spur-like bone growth on my spine causing me problems when I was lying flat on my back (or sitting in a hard backed chair) was shaved down as well.  The wounds are still healing, but all I'll be left with is a couple of scars on my back...joining the one large scar left by last year's surgery.

After coming home, I spent the last couple of weeks on very light duty while healing up.

At my recent follow up appointment, despite finding out the surgery went down better than I ever could have expected, the news wasn't all good. I found out one of my legs refused to go all the way down on the operating table (It's right out of a Three Stooges bit. Push the leg down, I sit up. Push my torso down, the leg goes up. Jebus!). Having a "tight hip" was the term used. According to what I was told, "tight hip" is a red flag pointing right towards a hip replacement.

From all the destruction going on inside, the only conclusion I can come up with is...my body hates me. As if I didn't have enough to worry about...

Actually, I wasn't all that surprised. I was told a few years ago that sooner or later the osteoarthritis chewing up my shoulders and hips may lead to eventual joint replacement. I was hoping it would be later than sonner, even though I do deal with joint pain on a daily basis.

When I go back to U of M for my next follow up in July, one of the topics we'll be discussing is setting up a referral with a "hip guy."  Metal detectors already go off like a Vegas slot machine when I go through them, so what's a little more metal in my body at this point?

So that's the scoop. I plan on going back to writing regularly at TWFE, while continuing with my Detroit Tigers postings every Wednesday and Saturday at Bless You Boys.

As for what I may have missed regarding the Detroit Lions, it sure as Hell wasn't much. The team picked up a waiver wire kicker, they lost a couple of OTA days due to The Schwartz's workouts being a little too intense, Ndamukong Suh bitched about his Cornhuskers moving to the Big Ten + 2, Albert Haynesworth rumors got more play, Daunte Culpepper signed with the (HA!) UFL, and...well, that was about it.

I'm sure I'll have something to say about the latest anf greatest Lions news as I get back up to speed.

So...I'm back and so is TWFE!
