Inspired by Ty's two posts at The Lions in Winter, asking what Lions jersey you own, I thought it was time to post what I wear every Sunday of the football season.

Barry Sanders jersey back

My back belongs to Barry

I picked up this jersey around 1997. It's a Reebok authentic I paid waaaay too much for, but just had to own. It's old school, but so am I. It's more than a little big for me now, as it's a 56, XXL. I was 40-50 pounds heavier and had a much healthier back when I picked it up. But I don't care. It's my prized football jersey, and they're supposed to be over-sized anyway!

My Lions jersey has seen me through countless Lions games in person and at home, survived tailgating at both the Silverdome and Ford Field, along with the spilling of beer, food, and even a little blood. It's worn like iron (though it's showing a little wear and tear around the edges), so I feel like I've gotten my money's worth, and then some.

At the time when I was picking out the jersey, I realized there could be only one player name I would wear...well, wear as long as I'd remain a fan of this lousy franchise, which is always. That of the God amongst running backs, the man who made many a miserable Lions Sunday bearable, Barry Sanders.

I'm glad I did.

Ty asks you to send him a link to a pic of your Touchdown Tommy Vardell jersey (just an example!), and he'll continue to add them to his collection.
