Sam Bradford is officially under contract with the St. Louis Rams.
The No. 1 pick of the NFL draft has agreed to terms. FOXSports.com has learned the St. Louis Rams and Sam Bradford have agreed to a six-year deal worth a reported maximum of $86 million.
The deal includes a stunning $50 million in guaranteed money. That amount of guaranteed money is the highest ever in the NFL.
You do have to remember quarterbacks tend to get a premium when signing deals. We saw the premium at work with Matthew Stafford last year when he got the "highest ever" guaranteed money for a rookie.
Bradford's signing is a good news for Lions fans. The amount Bradford received isn't.
Suh will get a crazy amount of guaranteed cash, but I'm of the belief the Lions have seen it coming. They knew that Bradford was going to end up with more than Stafford, the number two slot will get a bump up over last season's pick, and have negotiated accordingly. So the Lions aren't my worry.
My worry is with Suh's loopy agents, Roosevelt Barnes and Eugene Parker. Their track record with Michael Crabtree doesn't inspire confidence in their slotting Suh with number two money.
From looking at the track records of both parties in regard to getting picks in camp, I'm thinking it's all on Suh's agents at this point. Which is why I'm slightly concerned. But only slightly.
I'm still going to venture a guess that Suh will sign sometime Satruday afternoon.
We'll see if I'm right in a little more than 15 hours or so...
