Sorry for the lack of posting as of late. I've been fighting off a bug for the past week plus, and when your arthritis drugs give you a compromised immune system...well, you get my drift.
Here's the latest from Blane, aka Wolverlion, friend of TWFE and our own radio star!
Computer problems now solved. I had no connectivity last week so you did not get to see my picks for the divisional round of the playoffs. I am very very sorry. For the record I was 3-1 with my one loss being the Chargers losing to the J-E-T-S----JETS---JETS---JETS.
Anyway, now on the the Championship games. This is a week the Lions made it to just once. If I recall correctly, they took a 3-0 lead on the Skins only to then give up 42 unanswered points. UGH!!!!!
It was something like that...even though I've tried to eliminate the embarrassment to the dust bin of my mind. Pro Football Reference has the box, for those who don't remember/gave themselves a lobotomy/weren't yet born/too young/too smart to become a fan. The Lions were down 17-10 at the half, only to give up 24 consecutive 2nd half points to lose 41-10. I was a party that day, and we went from screaming in excitement, to screaming in pain, as the game played itself out. Damn Lions...Let's move on.
Remember, Wolverlion makes his picks on the Hillbilly Huddle, which airs every Friday and Monday between 7 and 8 AM on the blowtorch of SE MI, 97.5 Y-Country radio, WYTZ FM. You hosts are football expert Blane, aka Wolverlion, and 97.5 Y country morning man Wild Bill Lewis.
Wolverlion's picks are in bold, while my snarky ass commentary is in italics.
NY Jets @ Indianapolis Colts: If I have to hear the name Revis 1 more time I am going to puke. I am glad the Lions took Stafford as Sanchez looks an awful lot like Mat Leinart to me. I am sick of hearing about Rex Ryan and his defense. He had two teams lay down the last two weeks of the season to get into the playoffs. Then they caught an overachieving Bengals team who had taken their foot off the pedal, and the Chargers had done the same thing. I think Indy gives them a beat down of epic proportions Sunday. Get you barfbag ready, sir. REVIS! I'm with Wolverlion in that I'm picking a Colts victory, but I think the Jets' lock down defense, led by REVIS, keeps it from becoming a beat down. I'll bet Rex Ryan has a good cry in the post game presser.
The Minny Favre Vikings @ N.O. Saints: I cannot wait for this game. Thank god John Madden is not doing this one. The Favre-O-Meter would break from all the references. Anyway, this has the makings of an all time great game. The Offense should be exciting, the defenses force a lot of turnovers, should be fun to watch. I am taking the Vikings only because I expect the wrinkled Favre to will the Vikings to victory, but do not miss this game. This will be one for the ages. I hope he's right, as the NFL playoffs have lacking close, entertaining games...save for Cardinals - Packers. I'm taking the Saints, as they are the only NFC team, other than the Lions, to have not yet appeared in a Super Bowl. It's only fitting, right? Plus, I really don't want to see any more of Favre than I already have, you know?
Maybe by 2020 we can be discussing the Lions chances in the NFC Championship game. More like discussing their chances to score affordable tickets on the 50 yard line...
