With about two minutes remaining on Minnesota's 10-minute clock, the deal was finally done. It took awhile to negotiate the back-and-forth offers and, at about the three-minute mark, Lions head coach Jim Schwartz was getting antsy.
"I was thinking things get hectic on the sidelines, but Tom (Lewand) was on the phone making this trade and I wanted to grab the phone from him and start beating him with it to get it going,'' Schwartz said.
If you didn't have reason to like Jim Schwartz, you have one now. Who hasn't wanted to beat the Lions head bean counter over the head with a telephone?
