We have 30 minutes remaining before the 2010 NFL Draft begins.
We can FINALLY stop talking about what ifs. Barring a trade, by 8PM we'll know who the next number one pick of the Detroit Lions will be. From all accounts, watching ESPN and the NFL Network, cruising the NFL-centric web sites, and following NFL writers on Twitter, Ndamukong Suh is going to be the pick.
A few other quick thoughts before the draft...
- Is there anything sillier than a RED CARPET at the NFL Draft? A red carpet? Seriously? All that's missing is Joan Rivers and Kathy Griffin.
- I read the replay of Killer Kowalski's Mlive chat. In regard to the Darren McFadden rumors, he said, "Oakland's a career killer." One question for Killer. Detroit isn't?
- Does ESPN really think Mel Kiper and Todd McShay yelling at each other makes for good TV? I had to mute the damn TV. Jabber, jabber, jabber.
- Chris Berman's stchick is so played out.
- TEBOWTEBOWTEBOW!
- More Chucky please. Jon Gruden is entertaining, and actually knows what the Hell he's talking about.
- At least I can get a break from the 4 Letter by watching the NFL Network. Not that they don't have their issues....but they don't have Berman either. And that's a GOOD thing.
- A small part of me is hoping the Lions do something crazy, if only to give me blog fodder for the next few weeks. I wouldn't put it past Martin Mayhew to make a deal or 5 over the next 3 days.
- I have to thank the football Gods the Lions pick early. There is not a more hyped non-event on the planet than the NFL Draft.
A couple of quick links:
Some of my blogging brethren (and guys I consider friends), such as Ty from the Lions in Winter and Mike from Blue and Silver Pride, are taking part in an Mlive live chat. Should be some good info available, if you can sperate the wheat from the lunatic Mlive commenter's chaff.
I'll also be writing a late night recap of the Tigers - Angels game for Bless You Boys. It's gonna be a long night at TWFE HQ...
I"ll have more as the night goes on...and on, and on, and on.
