The Lions have yet to show they can stop the Skins as we start the 2nd quarter...
Campbell to throw...hit as he throws...PICK IT! Crap, falls short of the Lions' DB. Damn, it was just floating there, ready to be picked...
3rd and 10, Campbell to throw again...pressured, rolls right, throws...Moss is SHORT of the stick! 4th down! Lions stop the Skins, stepping up nicely after the offense scored. I wasn't expecting that, to say the very least.
But Northcutt harshes my mellow by calling for a fair catch on the Lions' 5 yard line. MORON.
Stafford fakes the end around, it's Smith up the gut...he's in the secondary and down at the 25! Figures, the minute I bench Smith on my FF team...Nah, you don't want to hear it.
3rd and 2. Stafford with a little misdirection, fakes to the fullback, then pitches to Smith wide...gets the corner and is down at the 49! 1st down Detroit! I absolutely love that play call...
Skins with a defensive hold, Lions are at the 46. Lions on the move? Yes, it's true.
3rd and 7, Stafford to throw, 1st down to Johnson at the 19! Red Zone time, as the Lions make an appearance on the Red Zone Channel!
A run and incomplete pass leave 3rd and 5 at the 14. Stafford comes to the line, doesn't like what he sees. Time out, Detroit.
The feed is beginning to stutter badly...and it's...dead. Static picture, as I hear Dan Miller on the radio say Hanson drills the FG from 39 out. 10-0 Lions! Whoo...but I can't watch.
New feed alert: justin.tv/skinsnation/popout/ PW: redskins
Great, fucking great. Now that stream is sputtering.
Skins are 3rd and 13 deep in their own territory...Campbell throws...the receiver is a foot short of the marker. The 2nd time in 2 futile drives a Skins receiver ran a route just short of the 1st down stripe. Heads are going to roll in the film room tomorrow...
After the punt, and a silly block in the back penalty, the Lions will, once again, start inside their 10 yard line.
Stafford faces a 3rd and 5 from the 13, and Calvin Johnson runs a route on the GOOD side of the 1st down marker, makes a leaping catch for the 1st! That's how it's done.
Stafford again faces a 3rd and 5, and will try to throw for it! Pettigrew catches the pass at the marker, turns his shoulders up field, rumbling his way to the Detroit 39. Again, that's how it's done.
At the 2 minute warning, Lions lead 10-0, and have the ball.
To this point, Stafford is 10-16-121, 1 TD and 106.5 rating. By far his best performance of the season.
Lions face 3rd and long at their 42 after an Aaron Brown run fools no one. Skins with the TO at 1:54.
Stafford will throw...deep drop...it's BJ over the middle at the Skins 37!
Stafford will spike it...No, draw to Brown gets 8! Clock running, under a minute.
Swing pass to Brown...gets the corner...ARRGH! Shoestring tackle keeps him from going out of bounds! Lions use their final TO. They are well into Hanson's FG range at the 20 yard line.
Stafford rolls right on 1st down, throws it away. A 2nd down pass is knocked down by the Skins CB in the end zone. 3rd and 10, 0:36 left. Skins nailed with an injury TO, clock stops.
Stafford to throw...Pettigrew at the sticks! 1st down at the 10! Stafford spikes the ball to stop the clock with 0:20 left.
Stafford swings it out to Northcutt, WHO CUTS INSIDE! DUMBASS! He's down at the 8, and the clock is running...Stafford runs up to the line...spikes it...0:02 left! Northcutt's moronic run ALMOST cost the Lions.
Hanson jogs onto the field, and casually nails the chip shot 26 yard FG as time runs out.
HOLY SHIT, BATMAN! LIONS LEAD 13-0 AT THE HALF.
Matthew Stafford has been great today, 14-24-164-1TD-0 INT-93.1 QB rating. So has Kevin Smith, with 12 carries, 82 yards. Bryant Johnson is the Lions' leading receiver, 4-73-1 TD.
All around, this has been the best Lions half in recent memory. Let's hope it continues...
