Mr. 0-16 spoke to the media today, and cliches spewed out of him the same ways losses did in his tenure here in Detroit; fast, furious and in very odd ways
Per the Chicago Sun-Times:
"I focus on my opponent. I don't even acknowledge them,'' Marinelli said. ''I just work on what we do, each and every week. I know it sounds cliche. I'm not a cliche guy. I'm just telling the truth. No one here wants to believe it. That's how I live."
Did Marinelli just say "I'm not a cliche guy?"
"I'm not a cliche guy."
Pardon me for a sec.
//BWAAAHAAHAAAA! HEEEEEE! LOOOOOL! WHOOOOOO! HA!//
OK, back to the post...
What about the shovel? Where's the shovel in the tunnel? Are you still shoveling to the light? I miss the shovel. The sharp shovel.

The shovel stuff will never get old. NEVER!
''I'm really good at that. I'm very disciplined because that would be cheating my guys. When I'm in this office, I have to help them get better. I have to add value.''
Boy, this guy never changes, does he? He may be good about "that," whatever "that" is, but "that" sure as Hell isn't being a good head coach. Value added? Only if you like hearing "pad level" 5 times a press conference. Those are 2 words I NEVER want to hear again.
Pad level...Jebus.
"Oh, yeah,'' he said. ''I loved it. It was great. I think it's important. It's like I teach them, if you have a sack, let it go. How many times do you see back-to-back sacks? You don't because the guy is celebrating and all that, and then you lose that focus for that play. It's just like a bad play. You have to learn from the experience, learn how to improve from it and now go. It's hard to do."
"If you have a sack, let it go?" What? The? Hell? Isn't that something from a Hallmark card? Or a Sting song? Now that's something I've never heard before...probably because his Detroit defenses never sacked a soul, let alone an NFL quarterback.
Teach, learn, focus. All he needs to add is saying teach at least 3 more times, and we'll have your typical Marinelli presser in 2008.
"I teach it, I teach it and I teach it. You just have to clean your mind and go play."
That's my Rod! Mr. Drive A Cliche Into Middle Earth still has it!
As soon as something else is on that mind, you don't play fast and you don't live fast. I live fast. I don't drag any baggage with me. My bags are gone. I take them off and go.
Now he's talking about baggage? HA! It's as if 0-16 never happened. It happened, alright. It sure as Hell happened. Even believing in invisibility won't eliminate the steamer trunk sized baggage 0-16 carries...
"Drop the rocks and run. This stuff is too much fun.''

The captions just write themselves with this guy...
Thank God this clown is gone. If I want to hear cliches, platitudes and home-spun wisdom, I'll listen to The Prarie Home Companion. I don't need to hear it from an in over his head football coach.
When it comes to writing about Rod "I believe in the invisible" Marinelli, it's a dead horse I'll never mind beating.
Wait...was that a cliche? NOOOOOO!
