We're back for the 2nd quarter, with the Lions holding their first lead of the season. Hopefully it won't be their last.
Stafford takes the snap, designed rollout right...throws...FUUUUUUCK. It's picked by Chad Greenway, who brings the ball back 13 motherfucking yards to the Minny 44.
Well, we knew going into the season with a rookie starting, we'd see tons of dumbass mistakes. That was just one of what will be many. It's all about the future, right? Still doesn't mean I can't be PISSED OFF.
Vikes go to the run, as Peterson gets 9 on a pair of runs. 3rd and short. Make. A. Play.
Ir's a delay to Peterson...do my eyes deceive me? NO! IT'S BLOWN UP! Foote and Manuel bust into the backfield, and throw Peterson down for a loss! WHOOO!
I'm totally digging the Lions aggressiveness on both sides of the ball! Lovin' it...
Detroit will start at their 13 after the fair catch. We're told by Pitts, after the fact, the Vikings had backup QB Tavaris Jackson on the punt team. They have something up their sleeves...or just want the Lions to think they do.
3rd and 10, Stafford wants to throw...pressured...rolls right....He's running (maybe lumbering is a better description)...DIVES...ARRRGH! NO FUCKING WAY! He looked to have made the sticks!
But the refs give Stafford the old left foot mark, and he's a half yard short! Hell of an effort by the rookie, as he dove headfirst with the ball stretched out far in front...Schwartz is contemplating a challenge, as replays show Stafford just may have had the conversion.
And a challenge we will get!
I have to admit I'm enjoying the relatively good football the Lions are playing, though it is tending to curb my profanity!

We're back from a Vikings injury time out, and Morris bursts thru the line for 5 more and the 1st down! I'm flabbergasted how well the Lions are running the ball.
A sjhort pass to the TE gets a couple, Smith gets a couple more...FLAG! Personal foul on the Vikings for shoving the man mountain, Gosder Cherilus, to the turf! Nice acting by the big fella, ball is moved to the Vikes 16.
Smith up the gut...FACE MASK! Yes, the refs agree, as we see the flag! 1st and goal at the 8. Smith gets maybe a yard off tackle. Lions have over 90 yards on the ground.
Stafford will throw on 2nd down...short drop...wants Johnson on a slant...YES! TOUCHDOWN! TOUCHDOWN! TOUCHDOWN! Megatron caught the ball at the 2, and dove into the end zone! That was one Hell of a drive!
Hanson drills the PAT, and practically skips off the field in happiness! The Lions are fired up, and deservedly so, with a 10-0 lead!My eyes are no longer deceiving me.
Vikes start at the 24, and it'll be Peterson up the gut...SHIT! He bounces off the pile, gets the corner, and isn't touched till he runs out of bounds at the 45. Uh, where was the contain? Just asking...
Vikings are driving, it's 3rd and 5 at the Detroit 49. 4:00 left in the half.
Favre with a short pass to Harvin, but Jordon Dizon out and out misses the tackle, as he flies by the wide out, and it goes for 12 yards and the 1st. Damn it, just square up and hit the God damn guy! JEBUS!
Manuel is injured in the play, and is helped off the field for the 2nd time in 5 minutes.
2nd and 7 at the Lions 37 after a Peterson screen, 2:45 left. Quick pass to Rice gets the Vikes another 1st at the 26. Come on, D! Make a fucking play!
Favre with another short pass to Peterson, who makes Sims look freaking silly as he only gets air on a juke move, and gets the 1st down as we hit the 2 minute warning.
Favre is 8-9 passing in the half, but only has 55 yards. He's throwing EVERYTHING quick and short.
Vikings at the 16, Favre with the quick throw to Rice at the 10, brought down at the 2. Shit.
Fullback up the gut, and the 900 pound DT Grady Jackson plugs up the middle big time, Vikes get a yard. 2nd and goal.
Favre rolls right on play action to Peterson, finds the TE open in the back of the end zone. Touchdown Vikings, 1:04 left in the half. Hell.
Vikes hold on the PAT, will kick it again. Doesn't make a difference, Longwell drills it thru. 10-7 Lions.
Favre was 7-7 on the drive, but I doubt he threw a pass longer than 10 yards. Whatever works, I guess.
Brown brings the kickoff back to the 17. There's some old school Stan Kwan, eh?
Lion try a delay to Brown, Allen doesn't buy into it, blows it up for a loss of 4. TO Vikings.They want the ball back.
Lions fake the end around...it's a handoff to Brown, he's over the 30 and gets the 1st...FUCK! Holding on...you know who it's going to be...Jeff Backus. Fucking Millen and his fucking stupid contracts. Penalty pins the Lions deep. But the clock continues to run after a short Brown run, and both teams seem happy to let the clock run out on the half.
Lions lead after 30 minutes of play, 10-7. All in all, not a bad performance for Detroit. But can it carry over into the the 2nd half? We'll soon find out...
