bloguins power rankings

I'm still waiting on the results of the Bloguin NFL blogpoll, but in the spirit of TWFE being a somewhat open book, here's my submission to Bloguin's week 2 NFL power rankings.

There's 2 things to remember...

One, this for entertainment purposes only. Betting on football is illegal in 49 states and all of the US territories. Using my rankings as a betting guide is just stupid, as I'm just a smartass blogger who's making it up as I go along.

Two, if you take issue with my rankings, I'll just blame the cold/flu/Lions virus I'm trying to battle my way through, and claim I was halluncinating at the time.

  1. New York Giants: Peyton's little bro in't going to be overshadowed by big brother.
  2. Indianapolis Colts: Peyton Manning is really, really good. Dallas Clark ain't bad either...
  3. Atlanta Falcons: Matt Ryan is getting better by the week. Ron Mexico who?
  4. Baltimore Ravens: Ray Lewis is letting the world know he's not washed up just yet.
  5. Pittsburgh Steelers: Anyone feel sorry for Jeff Reed? Didn't think so.
  6. New Orleans Saints: The Saints offensive juggernaut scored even more points this week against a much better team. Brees for MVP?
  7. New England Patriots: Is the Patriots era of AFC dominance over?
  8. Philadelphia Eagles: Teams who think they are Super Bowl contenders don't give up 48 points to ANYONE.
  9. Minnesota Vikings: Brett Favre is hailed as a game manager. Isn't that a derogatory term inferring you can't make plays?
  10. New York Jets: Mark Sanchez for MVP? Maybe in New York City.
  11. Chicago Bears: You can call off the suicide watch in Chicago, Jay Cutler really is a good quarterback.
  12. San Diego Chargers: If LaDanian Tomlinson ends up taking a back seat to Darren Sproles, it's going to get ugly.
  13. Denver Broncos: 2-0 with unhearled Kyle Orton at the controls. But will his good play continue?
  14. Arizona Cardinals: Matt Leinhart best get used to being a backup, Kurt Warner is playing better than ever.
  15. San Francisco 49er's: Despite generating little fanfare, Frank Gore is one of the best running backs in the NFL. But there's no such thing as East Coast bias, right?
  16. Green Bay Packers: Aaron Rogers has a worse W-L record than Brett Favre. Just sayin'...
  17. Buffalo Bills: Will Lee Evans ever raise his game to the next level? The Magic 8 Ball says, Not going to happen.
  18. Dallas Cowboys: Tony Romo isn't as good as he thinks he is...
  19. Seattle Seahawks: They are what we thought they were...a .500 team, at best.
  20. Houston Texans: 2 games without any contribution from Steve Slaton. Matt Schwab's arm can carry the Texans only so far.
  21. Miami Dolphins: The Wildcat was effective, but not wildcatty enough to beat the Colts.
  22. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Bryon Leftwich is not the solution, but he is part of the problem.
  23. Cincinnati Bengals: Chad Ochocinco's Lambeau Leap made more news than the Bengals actually winning a game.
  24. Washington Redskins: Beating the woeful Rams 9-7 is nothing to be proud of, and drops you in the rankings.
  25. Tennessee Titans: Chris Johnson had a fantasy football dream day, yet the Titans still managed to lose.
  26. Carolina Panthers: Breaking news: This just in, Jake Delahomme has thrown another interception. More at 11.
  27. Jacksonville Jaguars: How does Los Angeles Jaguars sound to your ears? It sounds great to the NFL's.
  28. Oakland Raiders: Saying "The Raiders aren't quite as bad a team as I thought" is definitely a compliment.
  29. Cleveland Browns: So bad I forgot to copy and paste them in when I originally did my list. Like I said, I'm not feeling good! (No excuse, but that's all I got...)
  30. Kansas City Chiefs: Lose to Oakland? Welcome to Rams and Lions land!
  31. Detroit Lions: After seeing the struggles of Matthew Stafford, and the success of Mark Sanchez, anyone else in Detroit having second thoughts?
  32. St. Louis Rams: The worst team in the NFL actually scored points this week. Good for them!

I still believe the Lions are better than the Rams, though the Chiefs and Jaguars may end up challenging both teams for the number one overall draft selection in 2010. The Raiders, even with the senile Al Davis' meddling, have won a game and are on the rise...of one spot, but on the rise all the same.

As to the best team in the game, I'm going with Manning the younger's New York football Giants just over the Manning the elder's Baltimore Indianapolis football Colts.

Thoughts? Complaints? Want a loan after using my rankings as a betting guide last week? (Though for the second week in a row, I was damn close in predicting the Lions final score...YEA ME!) Put 'em in the comments!
