Every afternoon I breathlessly await reports from the Lions beat writers, in hopes of learning the latest about the status of Matthew Stafford's injured knee.
Await no more, the news is in...it's guarded, but positive. Stafford LIVES! Or something like that...
Killer Kowalski at Mlive:
Stafford looked fairly sharp in taking snaps during the 30-minute period of practice in which the media is allowed to watch. The team was in full pads today. The only indication that Stafford still isn't 100 percent is that, during the stretching and warmup period, he only did leg lunges with one leg.
If Stafford's NOT 100% and still starts, I'm screaming bloody God damn murder for heads to roll if the kid gets hurt again. You do not screw around with a possible franchise quarterback. As the Lions have not had one of those elusive creatures in my lifetime (and I'm not exactly a spring chicken, as you all know), I'd REALLY like to see one in Detroit before I've rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible.
Tim Twentyman at the News:
Stafford took first-team snaps for a second straight day in the portion of practice open to the media. He looked very comfortable running and throwing the football.
Wednesday was an important evaluation day for Stafford and his right knee. Team officials wanted to see how the knee would react after practicing Tuesday.
No swelling after one day of practice is good. Will there be no swelling after a second day of activity? That's why there will be a day 3 of the Matthew Stafford injury watch at TWFE!
Nick Cotsonika at the Freep:
Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is practicing for the second straight day today – a good sign, considering he had swelling and could not practice after he tested his injured right knee the last time.
The Lions will continue to monitor Stafford’s progress day to day before deciding whether he will play Sunday against St. Louis.
I'm still not convinced playing Stafford against the Rams is a good idea. I want him to get as much playing time as possible, obviously. But not at the expense of possibly missing even more time if he bangs up the knee again. Especially with an offensive line in front of him who believe pass blocking is only a suggestion, not a requirement.

Stafford sure looks good during workouts, don't you agree?
But the injury news isn't all good. No Megatron or Hunter, and Felton made an appearance, but in the words of the Killer, "was limited even in the individual drills."
Figures.
It's the Lions. The there's always a yin to the yang.

But is no one else concerned that Megatron is out with an injury again? His rookie season was tainted by the back injury, and I'm just getting the sinking feeling that this will end up being another sub-par season for him. 2 injury seasons out of 3? I'd say cause for concern.
