TWFE presents: Wolverlion's locks for NFL week 9

As you all know by now, Blane, aka long-time TWFE reader Wolverlion, picks NFL games every week on his radio show, the Hillbilly Huddle. He then forwards the picks on to TWFE, so they can be posted for all posterity...or as long as Bloguin's servers hold up.

Remember, the Hillbilly Huddle airs every Friday and Monday between 7 and 8 AM on the blowtorch of SE MI, 97.5 Y-Country radio, WYTZ FM. You hosts are football expert Blane, aka Wolverlion, and 97.5 Y country morning man Wild Bill Lewis.

As for his record against his listeners, it's fallen to 4-2-1. I'll let Wolverlion explain...

I ran into another buzzsaw last week as the listener that I went against picked 12 games correctly. The last two weeks, the listeners have picked all but 2 games correctly, TOTAL. I think it is time for a radio sponsored trip to Vegas. Anyway, I will try to get back on the right side of the win loss chart this week.

So here is Blane's attempt to end his slump. His picks are in bold, while my snarky ass commentary is in italics.

Atlanta takes down an awful Skins team in the dome. Will Washington PLEASE fire Jim Zorn already? End this farce! So the Falcons should...I could make a joke about what could be done to Indians, but as I'm 1/8 Indian (My grandmother was, as they used to say in Hollywood westerns, a half-breed), I'll refrain. Plus I'll add the Redskins name is in poor taste. But the Falcons should win easily.

Chicago stays unbeaten at home by topping the Cards. I'm temped to take the Cardinals, as Jay Cutler often has a scatter gun, instead of a rifle, for an arm. But the Cards are little more than a mediocre .500 team leading the West because the rest of the division is in a tailspin. While the Bears are also mediocre, they are at home. When mediocre p[lays mediocre, take the home mediocre.

Baltimore goes on the road to take the Bengals. I am not a Bengal believer yet. Neither am I, and the Ravens still have a good defense, and Ray Rice.

Indy stays unbeaten by taking the Texans at home. What's the better prop bet? Number of Steve Slaton fumbles or Peyton Manning TD passes?

Tom Brady and the Pats stop the Dolphins in New England. Pats seem to be getting better as the year goes on and Brady is gradually shaking off his '08 season ending knee injury. This just isn't the season for the Wildcat.

Green Bay goes to Tampa and keeps the Bucs winless. The Bucs are awful, and it's the first NFL start for their rookie QB, Josh Freeman. Tampa has no chance in Hell of beating the Pack.

K.C. takes in on the chin in Jacksonville. A couple of nothing teams going nowhere in particular. Seems like there's been far too many of these sort of games in the NFL this season.

I just cannot take the Lions over the Seattle Hasslebacks in Washington, especially after last weeks performance. Lions never win on the road. Period. This game is a Seattle lock.

New Orleans remains unbeaten at home over Carolina.
Saints start MVP candidate Drew Brees at QB. The Panthers are still starting a multiple turnover game waiting to happen, Jake Delahomme. 'Nuff said.

The Giants stop their slide by beating the Chargers in N.Y. I'll take the Chargers. They have the better QB in Phillip Rivers, while the New York fanbase will be waiting to pounce on the Giants' first mistake, and heap all kinds of abuse on their slumping team.

San Fran gets healthy against the Titans. This game couldn't have come at a better time for the badly struggling Niners, as SF needs a win badly. I'm not convinced Vince Young is an NFL QB. Then again, one great game 2 weeks ago doesn't mean Alex Smith is suddenly a legit NFL QB either.

Philly gets by the Cowboys in Philly to help the Phillie fans forget about the World Series for a day or two. Big game in the NFC East. As for the winner, I'll put it this way. Who would YOU want coaching your team in a BIG game, Andy Reid or Wade Phillips? Anyone who says Phillips needs to get back on their meds.

Monday night, Pitt in Mile high over the Broncos. I still do not believe in Kyle Orton. I'll use the same style question again. Who would YOU want as your QB, Ben Roethlisberger or Kyle Orton? A 2 time Super Bowl winner or a throw-in, as Denver needed a body at QB, as part of the Jay Cutler trade?Anyone who says Orton has to be a Bears fan who as just seen Cutler throw another pick.
