It's no longer even a theoretical possibility.
It's officially official.
The Detroit Lions will not win the NFC North.
Sad news, I know.
As the Lions are so bad, I really wasn't paying attention to their division chances...because, in the real world, there is no chance. We knew it before the season started. But mathmatics don't lie, and up till approximately 4:20 PM Sunday, the Lions still had a mathmatical shot at winning the division.
As Mike O'Hara reminds us in the News, even math no longer works in the Lions' favor:
Every week, they produce another amazing statistic.
On Sunday, they became the first team in the NFL to be mathematically eliminated from their division race. The Vikings lead the NFC North at 8-1. The Lions are last at 1-8, with two losses to the Vikings.
Nice to know my belief there is absolutely no hope for this team is confirmed.
