We learned today NFL Films had Matthew Stafford mic'd up, with a camera spying him during every moment of Sunday's Browns win. Earlier this afternoon, our appetites were whetted regarding the soon to be broadcast segment (On the NFL Network's "Sound FX") with a quote from NFL Films' Steve Sabol.
Via Nick Cotsonika at the Freep:
NFL Films president Steve Sabol said Stafford "earned a lasting place in the cinematic folklore of the NFL." Stafford was wired for sound when he suffered an AC joint separation, came back and threw the winning touchdown with no time left against the Browns. Sabol called it "the most dramatic player wiring ever" -- and NFL Films has wired more than 350 players since 1965.
"Cinematic folklore?" "Most dramatic EVER?" Come on.
Honestly, I thought Sabol was more than a tad hyperbolic.

As it's now posted on the Detroit Lions' site, I just watched the segment. (Unfortunately, like all NFL produced video, you cannot embed it)
Then I watched it again.
Sabol wasn't lying, it's absolutely riveting.
As Lions' play by play man Dan Miller said during the broadcast, Stafford's grittiness is, "The kind of stuff that endears you to a city."
I can tell you right now, once Lions fans see this, they're going to fall in LOVE with this kid.
