Facepalm Awards!

It was another cringe worthy performance by the Lions against the Packers on Turkey Day. Let's take a walk down memory lane, and dish out some awards!

The "Discretion is the better part of valor" Facepalm: Matthew Stafford

I like what I see in Stafford. I really do. But he still needs to learn sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. sometimes a play just plain isn't going to work, and there are better, safer options. Sometimes the defense will force you to dump the ball off to the safety valve, the throw the ball away or eat it and take the sack. All are preferable to an interception...especially in the red zone.

You can't go for the home run ball on every damn pass. Take what you can get...just as you did in the final drive against Cleveland. Which worked out pretty well, right?

As much as it pains me to say it, I'm going to keep giving you Facepalms till you learn to pick your spots.

The "Put on your big boy pants" Facepalm: Daunte Culpepper

I've said all I needed to say about Culpepper's Thanksgiving Day hissy fit in my previous post.

You didn't get the start, and for that matter, failed in Detroit...epically. Deal with it...which shouldn't be too hard to do considering the $7 million the Lions are paying for your disappointing services this season.

Now take your Facepalm, and blow. Hopefully somewhere far, far away from Detroit.

The "Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down" Facepalm: Kevin Smith

How many times have we've seen this:

Kevin Smith being shoestring tackled AGAIN

Yes, it's Smith being taken down by a arm/hand/pinky finger when there is nothing but blockers and open field in front of him. I've lost count the number of times he's been taken down when on the verge of breaking a long run. Smith is definitely not a Weeble.

Smith needs to watch the following and take a few notes:

I'm getting sick and tired of seeing Smith go down after being tapped by some bodily appendage, something not even close to a full fledged tackle.

You want to be the Lions' feature back? Start running like one. Elite backs run thru arm tackles, not get brought down by them.

Dude, feel free to pawn your Facepalm for a few Weebles to learn from.

Picard facepalms

With the Lions facing the Bengals this Sunday, expect the facepalms to be coming as fast and furious as they do in my Picard gif...
