1st down at the 29, Stanton will throw...looks down the middle for Megatron...it's behind him....EASY PICK! Goldson returns the gimme to the Niners 40. Johnson was open in the seam, Stanton just plain missed him.
Now that play really and truly ends the Lions' chances, slim though they may have been.
Cue Ralphie.

FUUUUUUUUGE!
Cue Al.

FUUUUUUUUCK!
Indeed.
The Niners' drive peters out in Detroit territory, but their punt is down at the Lions' 2. This is gonna get ugly.
My friend Uncle Omar tells me to turn over the TV and pick up a book in the comments:
You have to give the players credit. It's pretty clear that they want that first pick as much as the fans and management do. My suggestion is that you stop watching this shit and go read "Semi-Tough" by Dan Jenkins.
Good call, Uncle. But I've read "Semi-Tough". GREAT book by a GREAT writer. Damn funny as well. Unfortunately, the movie didn't come close to doing Jenkins' book justice. To get all on a literary bent, I have to say the best football novel I've ever read is "North Dallas 40" by former Cowboy turned author Pete Gent. And the movie did do the book justice. Do yourself a favor, read both "Semi-Tough" and "North Dallas 40", and watch the Nick Nolte in the movie version of Gent's book.
But I digress...
Back to the game. The Lions and Niners trade punts, then the Niners fumble, Lions recover. Stanton immediately returns the favor, throwing pick number 3.

Serious Cat agrees. This game BLOWS.
8 minutes left in this farce.
Stanton's numbers: 11-21-130-0 TD-3 INT-31.9 rating.I think the Lions are going to have to find 2 QBs in the coming off season.
The Drew Stanton experience has come to an end, as we see Culpepper warming up on the sidelines. Shit. A bad day just got worse.
As usual, the announcers bring up Culpepper's desire to start, otherwise known as...

The obese one nickels and dimes the Lions downfield, driving the Lions inside the SF 20 with 4 minutes left. The drive runs out of gas at the 19, Hanson will come on for a 38 yard FG attempt...Good.
The Niners lead is "cut" to 20-6. It's a fucking barnburner!
2 MINUTE WARNING!
Lions will face a 4th and 1from their 41 when play resumes, not that I give a shit at this point.
Culpepper throws short, and for the 2nd time today, Calvin Johnson fumbles trying to get YAC. Niners take over, and will take victory formation. Time to take a knee.
There's only one solution to this mess in the D.

You got a better idea?
The Niners take their final knee...San Francisco wins 20-6, Detroit falls to 2-13 on the year.

Yeah, we know. The Lions are worthless and weak....same shit, different decade.
One more game to go. As I continue to say, this season can't end soon enough.
This has been one grueling ass year of Lions football. I'm tired of the losing. Dead tired.
