On December 29th, 1957, at a sold out Briggs Stadium in downtown Detroit, led by Tobin Rote's 4 touchdown passes and 1 touchdown run, the Western Conference champion Detroit Lions destroyed the Cleveland Browns 59-14 to win the NFL Championship Game.

It was the Lions' 4th title game appearance and 3rd world title of the 1950s. They were considered one of the elite, a team full of Hall of Fame talent, an NFL dynasty.

It's been all downhill, with only a single, solitary playoff win in 1991, since.
